- What is a ghost job?
- A posting for a role the company isn't really hiring for: it was filled, put on hold, or left up to collect resumes. Ghost jobs often live on job sites long after they're gone from the company's own careers page.
- How does this check work?
- It checks the company's own career page for the role. A posting link from the company's site is looked up directly. For a LinkedIn, Indeed or other job site link, you give the company and the title, and we look for that title on the company's career page. When we can't tell, we say so.
- Is it free?
- Yes. No account needed, up to 10 checks a day.
- Does a "not on the company's site" result prove the job is fake?
- No. It means the title isn't listed on the company's career page right now. The role may have closed, been renamed, or be posted somewhere else. It's a strong sign to check before you spend an hour on an application.
